The Poppy

The Poppy cushioned mat was created for aging and senior dogs on the go. It’s breathable, versatile, and easy to take on adventures. We’ve used it for stroller rides, at home, picnics, hotels, car rides, and Poppy’s naps on my lap.

This cushion is made of high-quality materials and made in the USA by me. The outer fabric is 100% cotton percale fabric made in Italy. The inner fill is a blend of natural kapok fibers and shredded latex.

This product was inspired by my senior dog Franklin. As his arthritis progressed, we needed more soft and breathable materials for him. He overheated easily, so providing as many natural materials for him to lounge on around the house was important. Although Franklin never got to try this specific mat, Poplin’s been testing this for the last ~6 months and she likes it—her mat still looks new after all her digging on it and frequent washing.

This cushioned mat is a hybrid between a bed and a mat. It doesn’t offer the high support that a bed would, but it offers far more support than other mats. Most dog mats on the market are made with synthetic material exteriors and are filled with polyester. Although synthetic can be superior in some cases, breathability and portability were key criteria for my dogs.

The Poppy mat weighs ~1 lb and folds in half easily to fit in backpacks or suitcases. It’s fast to toss this mat in the car for outdoor adventures and efficient to take this cushion to different rooms around the house, unlike bulky dog beds. It also features a low height, so it’s easier for aging and senior dogs to get up and down without tripping.

Both the pink and blue cushions feature a white piping trim.

The processing period is currently ~2-3 weeks as it’s made to order—it’s just me and Poppy working on everything. Thanks for understanding!

Not good for:

• Dogs who like warm surfaces
• Dogs who chew bedding
• High cushion with firm support (this mat is intentionally lightweight with low fill for portability)
• A go-to dog bed, especially for seniors (this doesn’t have firm support that senior dogs need to be the main 24/7 bed)

Care instructions:

• Outer cover: machine wash cold, dry low heat on delicate (air drying is preferred), and, if needed, iron on low
• Inner cushion and cover: Spot clean only. Do not machine wash or dried as the kapok will clump.
• Waterproof cover (optional): machine was cold and air dry
