The Franklin (small)

100% Cotton Quilted Mat / Blanket

The Franklin is a quilted cotton mat for dogs made with no synthetics. It’s breathable, durable, and easy to machine wash. We enjoy using it on top of dog beds, for naps, hanging out in the kitchen, and for mealtime.

This mat is made of high-quality materials. The outer fabric and trim are 100% cotton percale fabric made in Italy. The inner fill is 100% cotton made in USA. The thread is Aurifil 100% cotton made in Italy. There are no synthetics used in the making of this product. These quilts are made in the USA by me.

This product was inspired by my senior dog Franklin. As his arthritis progressed, we needed more soft and breathable materials for him. He overheated easily, so providing as many natural materials for him to lounge on around the house was important.

I searched high and low for mats made entirely of cotton, including baby mats and quilts. Many say 100% cotton fabric, but they still use polyester fill and thread. I couldn’t find anything that uses zero synthetics.

*Some might say this mat is closer to a blanket, but we use it as a multi-purpose mat :)!

The processing period is currently ~2-3 weeks as it’s made to order—it’s just me and Poppy working on everything. Thanks for understanding!

Size:

• Small: 20″ w x 35″ l  (+/- 1″ difference). Great for dogs under ~20 lbs.
• Medium: 28″ w x 35″ l (+/- 1″ difference). Great for dogs ~20-30 lbs.

Quilting Options:

• Please choose a row, diamond, or square pattern for the quilting! The diamond and square quilting are the best options for longevity.
• The row pattern is ~3″ width between stitches.
• The diamond pattern is ~6″ width between stitches.
• The square quilting (I like this pattern personally) is ~5″ width between stitches. The square quilting is the diamond pattern rotated so the lines are parallel to the edges.

Customization (Optional Add-On):

• Hand-embroidery is available up to 10 letters and will be located in the lower right with an approximate height of 0.75″ (+/- 0.25″ difference). Customization must be added as a separate product titled “Hand Embroidery Add-On” to the cart. Please note that customized products are final sale and can’t be returned.

• Fabric: 100% Cotton percale fabric made in Italy (OEKO-TEX Certified)
• Batting/inner fill: 100% Cotton made in USA with needle punching (no polyester scrim)
• Thread: Aurifil 100% Cotton made in Italy (OEKO-TEX Certified)

• Meals and treats
• Dogs who need a soft landing and traction wherever they go
• Dogs with collapsed tracheas
• Dogs who get hot easily, but are at risk/are developing hygromas from being on a bare floor
• Dogs who frequent the kitchen for treats (& also fall asleep in the kitchen after treats)
• Senior/aging dogs
• Traveling

Not good for:

• Dogs who prefer warm surfaces
• Dogs who chew bedding
• Cushion support

Care instructions:

• Machine wash cold, dry low heat on delicate.
• After the first wash, the quilt will have a beautiful crinkly texture due to the 100% cotton material.
